Events at the Parrsboro Band Hall


15 November: The Band Association in partnership with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #45 and in Association with the Handley Page Air Cadet Squadron are hosting REMEMBER WHEN, with the Stadacona Band, featuring Liz Rigney at The Hall, 44 King St. Parrsboro at 2:00 pm. Admission by donation. All veterans and Legion members are encouraged to wear their regalia as this is a concert of wartime and commemoration music as part of Remembrance Week.


8 November: FILM AT THE HALL 8:00 pm at The Hall, 44 King St. Parrsboro. “Man on A Wire” (part of a foreign film series being featured this fall on the big screen here at The Hall) Admission $8 adults $6 children


20 November: 6:30 pm Tree lighting activities at the Town Hall park and bandshell. After the ceremony, all are invited to The Hall, 44 King St. Parrsboro for fee hot chocolate, treats and a FREE Christmas film on the big screen.


21 November: The Sackville Citizen's Band Concert, Live Bait Theatre Main St Sackville 7:00 pm Admission by Donation. Featuring Janet Crawford

28 November: The Parrsboro Citizen's Band will be playing at the Cumberland County Museum "Old Fashioned Christmas,” 7:30.


2 December: FILM AT THE HALL 8:00 pm at The Hall, 44 King St. Parrsboro. “The Queen” (part of a foreign film series being featured this fall on the big screen here at The Hall) Admission $8 adults $6 children


7 December: The Parrsboro Citizen's Band presents its' Christmas Concert 7:00 pm


16 December: FILM AT THE HALL 8:00 pm at The Hall, 44 King St. Parrsboro. “Sin Nombre” (part of a foreign film series being featured this fall on the big screen here at The Hall) Admission $8 adults $6 children


23 December: 7:00 pm. “The Bentley Family Christmas.” We are truly blessed that this remarkable family of musicians have agreed to present a concert this evening so everyone can have an evening of fun and relaxation in the rump of the madness of Christmas shopping and preparation. The Bentley's are a local family (Rob directs the Citizen's Band, Jen has brought her Halifax String Quartet to perform here twice, and the rest of the family is equally talented) who have come up with the idea of presenting this evening of entertainment which promises to be eclectic, elegant, and most of all, fun.

Schedule of Events for the Month of August:
August 1 Band performs at Port Greville’s Fireman’s Field Day, 1 pm
August 3 - 7 Junior Drama Camp by Ship’s Company Theatre
August 5 Notre Dame de Grass: a “newgrass” concert, 8 pm
August 8 -9 Struts Models modeling workshop, 9 - 5 pm
August 9 Halifax String Quartet, 8 pm
August 8 Elastic Big Band performs at Advocate Harbour’s huge annual Bazaar at noon
August 10 – 14 Intermediate Drama Camp by Ship’s Company Theatre
August 12 Film: Raising Arizona, 7 pm
August 15 Gem Cutter’s Ball, 8pm (subject to change)
August 17 – 22 Senior Drama Camp by Ship’s Company Theatre
August 19 Film: The Man Who Would Be King, 7 pm
August 25 – 29 Jazz Camp co-promoted by the Parrsboro Band Association and Upstream Music
August 29 Band performs at Economy’s Blueberry Festival, (subject to change)

Band Day at the Parrsboro Bandshell

On the 26th of July the Parrsboro Band Association will host their "Band Day" at the Parrsboro Bandshell. A full day of music beginning at 12:30 and featuring no less than five bands performing all afternoon. A BBQ and a strawberry shortcake dessert will be featured along with and a draw for 25 lb of lobster.

Featured bands are: Moncton's Codiac Band, Sackville New Brunswick's Citizen Band, Brass Impact, the Elastic Big band and of course the Parrsboro Citizen's Band

The Parrsboro Band Association will also have a birthday cake to help celebrate the 100th year of operation for the Parrsboro Citizen's Band since its' name change from the 32 yr old Parrsboro Cornet Band in 1909.

Classical Music Festival for Parrsboro

If you are a lover of the classics, then Parrsboro will be the place to visit from June 26 to 28. Four concerts will be held at St. George’s Anglican and Trinity United featuring pieces preformed on violin, organ, flute and harp with the accompaniment of soprano singers. The Parrsboro Band Association

The Cumberland County Heritage Network wishes to announce the addition of a new tentative member to the Network, the Parrsboro Band Association (PBA). The Association is currently in the process of renovating and modernizing the (Old) Parrsboro Band Hall to convert it to a Regional Culture and Wellness Centre for South West Cumberland County as well as a centre that will offer community services, performing arts, tourism, and healthy activities for the region. The Hall will also provide the visitor with heritage component that will highlight the history of the Parrsboro Band and of the various uses of the Hall over the years.

The Parrsboro Band Association vision statement:

“To enhance the quality of life in our region, we will provide a centre that will further develop and invigorate the cultural, physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, social, and environmental life of our community.

We will create a state of the art, energy-efficient and environmentally responsible facility that will be a model for other communities in changing times by reclaiming this historic building and restoring it to the heart of the community.”
